GST calculator
Add GST to a price, or take GST out of a price that already includes it. The split into CGST and SGST, or IGST, is shown below.
How GST is calculated
Adding GST: GST = price × rate ÷ 100. For ₹1,000 at 18%, GST is ₹180 and the total is ₹1,180.
Removing GST: price before GST = amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). For ₹1,180 including 18% GST, the price before GST is ₹1,000.
CGST, SGST and IGST: for a sale inside your state, the GST is split equally into CGST and SGST (9% + 9% for an 18% rate). For a sale to another state, the whole GST is IGST.
How do I calculate GST on a price?
Multiply the price before tax by the GST rate. For ₹1,000 at 18%, GST is ₹180 and the total is ₹1,180.
How do I remove GST from a price that already includes it?
Divide the price by (100 + rate) and multiply by 100. For ₹1,180 including 18% GST, the price before tax is ₹1,000 and GST is ₹180.
When do I charge CGST and SGST, and when IGST?
For a sale inside your own state, GST is split equally into CGST and SGST. For a sale to another state, the full GST is charged as IGST.
